Emory University

Emory University is a vibrant campus in the heart of Atlanta–the city too busy to hate. Students pursue challenging and diverse studies; biology and piano, law and theatre. They put a lot of soul into everything they do–but Emory’s brand felt a little soulless.

What would it look like to bring wisdom, callous, vision and heart to life? And then give it room to grow.

After interviewing current students, alumni, professors and university leadership, one thing became clear: they were sick of being a runner-up to soul-less ivy juggernauts in the northeast.

Using long standing Emory design elements, we developed a new system that took the expected erudite design approach from the ivy’s and gave it a creative and unexpected Emory twist.

Taking inspiration from streetwear brands like Noah and Aime Leon Dore, we took classic, ivy league design elements and gave them an Emory twist, infusing grit, tenacity and soul.

Logo

Incorporating Emory’s trumpet and torch from their historic seal added swagger to a new iteration of their logo. We set it in unexpected directions at large scale so compositions communicated downright confidence.
